Dear Reader Namaste!

Many Greetings from RSKS India….

In today’s time, when chemical farming has threatened both soil fertility and human health, organic farming has emerged as a safe, natural and sustainable option. Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan has taken an important step in this direction – to educate and inspire rural women in the techniques of organic farming. The aim of this first initiative was that women could produce nutritious food for their families by adopting fertilizer-free farming, get better prices and strengthen their family’s financial contribution.

The organization organized camps in villages where women were trained in Jeevamrit, cow dung manure, neem husk, seed conservation, crop change, mulching and organic pesticides to be made at home. In this training not only new knowledge was developed, but women also got an opportunity to connect with their traditional Christian knowledge. The remedies that were adopted in the time of our grandmothers-like cow dung, cow urine, and urine-are being adopted once again in the fields.

Women not only took the training, but also increased their self-confidence by applying them in their fields. They are now selling their products in the market themselves, creating a source of income through self-help groups and contributing to the economic condition of their homes. This initiative has given women an opportunity to come out of the four walls of their homes and become farmers and entrepreneurs. They have now also started participating in the meetings of the Gram Panchayat, which shows their leadership and decision-making ability.

Through organic farming, not only the health of the family is protected, but the balance of soil fertility, water sources and sea environment is also maintained. Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan helped women in taking their produce to the urban market by connecting them with haat-bazaars, Krishi melas and online platforms. Today, when the demand for organic produce is increasing in the cities, this initiative has become an example of women empowerment, environmental protection and revival of traditions. When a rural woman does organic farming, she not only grows grains but also lays the foundation of a healthy, self-reliant and green Indian future.
