Dear Reader Namaste!
Many Greetings from RSKS India….
Self Help Groups (SHG) have become a strong medium of women empowerment. When these groups get proper knowledge, training and guidance, these women not only become financially self-dependent but also start contributing to the development of the society. In this context, “Basic Oral Orientation Training” organized by Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan is a very important step. The main objective of this training was to make the SHG women aware of their rights, responsibilities and the basics of group management.
The concept of SHG, its benefits and the importance of women’s participation were explained in simple language during the training. The basic topics such as formation of group, number of members, process of meetings, methods of taking decisions were discussed in detail. Women were made aware about financial knowledge such as operation of bank account, loan process, savings habits, and need for transparency. They were also informed about central and state government schemes like NRLM, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, and Mudra Yojana.
This training was not limited to only knowledge, but to make it interesting and sensible, measures like group discussion, learning through stories, use of posters, and role play were used. Dialogue based activities were conducted to improve leadership, team work and decision making ability of women. As a result, women’s self-confidence increased, they started participating actively in group meetings and some women even moved forward towards starting small businesses.
Need for continuous and practical training
Basic oral orientation training provides a strong foundation for women, through which they can become economically strong and socially self-reliant. Such training should be regular so that every woman can recognize her capabilities and play a leadership role in the society. In the future, this should be expanded further to vocational training, market related knowledge and digital education. This can be made more practical by involving Panchayat and bank representatives as well. When women are empowered, not just the family but the entire society moves towards progress.
