Dear Reader Namaste!

Many Greetings from RSKS India….

The Laado Girls’ Resource Center, run by the Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan recently organized a campaign to prevent and eliminate child marriage. This campaign was a powerful initiative against a harmful social practice that continues to hinder the education, health, and self-determination rights of many girls. The institute aims to empower girls, making them aware and self-reliant, and laying the foundation for their safe and bright future.

During the campaign, girls, parents, and community members were given detailed information about the harmful consequences of child marriage. Interactive sessions explained how early marriage hinders the physical and mental development of girls, disrupts their education, and increases the risk of health problems related to motherhood. Furthermore, child marriage also impedes social progress by limiting the potential of an entire generation.

The activities at the Laado Girls’ Resource Center were participatory. Girls conveyed the message that education is the key to empowerment and that ending child marriage is the beginning of equal opportunities through posters, slogans, and short presentations. These activities not only boosted the girls’ confidence but also inspired the community to reflect and take steps towards change.

The program placed special emphasis on legal awareness. Participants were informed about the Child Marriage Prohibition Act and were made to understand that preventing child marriage is a collective responsibility. Representatives from the institute explained that in any suspicious situation, timely intervention can be achieved by contacting the relevant helplines, administration, and social organizations. This information made parents and community members more aware and responsible regarding the law.

The Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan believes that law alone is not sufficient to eliminate child marriage; a change in social mindset is equally essential. With this objective, the campaign was based on sensitivity, dialogue, and cooperation. Discussions with parents emphasized that investing in girls’ education, health, and skill development brings long-term benefits to both the family and society.

Ultimately, the campaign concluded with a clear message: not child marriage, but education and empowerment are the future for girls. Through the Laado Girl Child Resource Center, the Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan is continuously striving to ensure that every girl can realize her dreams in a safe environment. This initiative seeks the cooperation of every member of society so that together we can eradicate harmful practices like child marriage and build an equal, just, and progressive society.
