Dear Reader Namaste!

Many Greetings from RSKS India….

Life Skills Program Empowers Rural Women RSKS India’s Special Initiative Under Garment Making Training Women living in rural areas still face numerous social, economic, and familial challenges. Lack of education, limited employment opportunities, financial dependence, and a lack of skills are among the primary reasons preventing them from becoming self-reliant. With these challenges in mind, RSKS India organized a Life Skills Program within garment making training, aimed at providing rural women with skills, along with self-confidence and life management skills.

The women participating in this program were first briefed on the importance of life skills. The trainers explained that skills are not just technical but also the art of leading a better life. Special attention was given to key aspects such as decision-making, problem-solving, time management, self-confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and leadership.

The program also encouraged women to view garment-making training not just as a means of employment, but as an opportunity to transform their lives. Many women who previously hesitated to leave their homes appeared to move forward with greater confidence and positivity after the training and life skills sessions.

During the life skills sessions, women shared their personal and social problems—how they struggle to balance family, children, work, and society. The trainers taught them simple and effective ways to make changes in their daily lives to reduce stress and make better decisions.

The program also focused on economic empowerment. Women were told that they could use garment-making skills to start their own small-scale businesses—such as running a home-based sewing center, making clothes to order, or working collectively through self-help groups. This would not only increase their income but also strengthen their identity within their families and society.

This initiative by RSKS India has made a significant effort to bring positive change in the lives of rural women. At the end of the program, the women enthusiastically reported that this training has given them a new direction. They are now not only becoming proficient in technical skills like sewing and embroidery, but are also becoming self-reliant, self-confident, and capable of making decisions.

This kind of life skills program not only provides women with skills but also empowers them to face life’s challenges. This training is an important step towards a bright future for rural women—one where they can stand on their own feet and live a life with dignity, self-respect, and self-reliance.
