“Steps towards prosperity of rural farmers with improved seeds”
Farmers, who are considered the backbone of rural India, are still facing many challenges. Due to limited resources, changing weather, pests and diseases, and traditional farming methods, they do not get the full fruits of their hard work. In view of these problems, RSKS India took a commendable initiative to help rural poor farmers – distribution of improved variety of seeds. This initiative not only helps farmers in getting better yield, but is also a concrete step towards improving their standard of living by increasing their income.
Under this program, needy farmers of selected rural areas were provided high quality, disease-resistant and high production seeds according to their crops. The specialty of these improved seeds compared to traditional seeds is that they give better yield in less time, remain durable even in adverse conditions like drought and high moisture, and provide adequate protection from pests and diseases affecting the crop. In this way, farmers have to reduce their dependence on expensive pesticides and chemicals, which reduces the cost of farming and increases profits.
During the program, the team of RSKS India not only gave seeds to the farmers, but also gave detailed training about modern farming techniques. This included important topics like timely sowing, correct amount of irrigation, use of organic fertilizers, and storage methods after harvesting. Thus, farmers got guidance about the entire agricultural cycle, so that they can make their farming more scientific and profitable.
The farmers benefited from this initiative expressed happiness and said that now they have full hope of getting a good crop, which will not only improve their financial condition but they will also be able to fulfill the education of their children, health of the family and other needs of the house. Many farmers also said that this type of assistance has increased their confidence and now they have started considering farming as a respectable and profitable business, not a loss-making one.
This initiative of RSKS India is an inspirational example towards rural development and self-reliance of farmers. Only when the farmers are happy, the village and the country will move towards progress. Distribution of improved seeds is not just an agricultural support program, but it is a seed of hope, which will germinate as a crop of prosperity and happiness in the lives of farmers.
“Improved seeds – Prosperous farmers – Happy villages.” This is the essence of this program and this is also the resolution of RSKS India.
