Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India) is constantly striving to end the evil of child marriage prevalent in the society. In this series, the organization is organizing “Child Marriage Prevention and Eradication” programs with girls in various rural schools of Ajmer district. The purpose of these programs is to make girls aware of their rights, explain the importance of education and make them aware of the ill effects of child marriage.

During the program, various activities were organized in schools, in which Selfie with Daughter, Awareness Rally, Painting Competition, Group Meetings were the main ones. Through these activities, the girls presented their point in a creative way and shared their thinking against child marriage. In the awareness rallies, the girls went from village to village with slogan posters in their hands and made people aware against child marriage. Slogans like “Beti Padhao, Bal Vivah Mitao”, “Beti Hai Anmol, Do Not Make Her Childhood Goal” made the entire environment communicable and meaningful.

Through the painting competition, children expressed their imaginations through colours, which made it clear that the new generation is aware of the evil practice of child marriage. Teachers, parents and social workers also participated in group meetings, where the legal aspects of child marriage, social ill-effects and the role of education were discussed.

Another important aspect of the program was the distribution of school materials to poor and needy girls. The organization distributed educational materials like copies, pens, bags, uniforms etc. to those girls who were in a position to leave studies due to financial difficulties. This assistance will not only encourage them in studies but will also keep them away from situations like child marriage.

Thus, this effort of Rajasthan Samagra Kalyan Sansthan is a strong step towards bringing positive change in the lives of girls in rural areas. Such programs not only empower the girls, but also lay the foundation of a better future by making the entire society aware. This campaign of the organization is infusing a new thinking and energy in the society, so that the evil practice of child marriage can be eradicated from its roots.
