Stitching a Brighter Future: Livelihood Initiatives !!!

Dear Friends Namaste !

Meena’s Tales…..

My name is Meena, and I live in a rural village with my husband and three children. Life used to be very hard for us. My husband’s earnings as a farmer were barely enough to cover our basic needs. I wanted to contribute but didn’t have the skills or resources to do anything. Then, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan came into my life and gave me a new purpose.

I joined RSKS India’s Women Self-Help Group as part of their Empowering Women with Sustainable Livelihood project. During our meetings, the RSKS team explained how we could start our own businesses with the help of microloans and training. I chose garment making because I already knew basic stitching and sewing.

With the microloan, I bought a sewing machine and some fabric to get started. The RSKS team provided me with advanced training, teaching me new stitching techniques, garment designing, and even marketing skills. At first, I began stitching clothes for people in my village. Gradually, my work gained popularity, and I started receiving orders from nearby villages too.

Today, I run a successful garment-making business. I’ve even hired two women from my village to help me with larger orders. My income has improved significantly, and I can now afford to send my children to school and save for their future.

This journey has been life-changing. I am no longer just a homemaker—I am a businesswoman. I feel proud every time someone appreciates my work, and I am grateful to RSKS India for making this possible. Their support has given me and my family a brighter future, and for that, I will always be thankful.
