Dear Reader Namaste!
Many Greetings from RSKS India….
An awareness program focusing on water, sanitation, hygiene practices, clean water, and personal hygiene was organized for girls at the ‘Laado Balika Center,’ run by the Rajasthan Samagrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India). The program aimed to educate the girls about the importance of cleanliness and inspire them to adopt clean and healthy habits in their daily lives. During the interaction, the girls were informed that cleanliness is not limited merely to keeping one’s surroundings tidy but is a crucial component of a healthy lifestyle.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of clean and safe water during the program. The girls were taught that contaminated water can lead to various illnesses; therefore, one should always use clean and safe water for drinking. Practices such as keeping water covered, storing it in clean vessels, and purifying it properly when necessary are vital for health. They were also advised against littering near water sources and reminded that keeping water sources clean is a collective responsibility.
The awareness session also highlighted the importance of making hygiene practices a part of daily life. The girls were encouraged to wash their hands with soap before meals and after using the toilet, keep their nails clean, bathe regularly, and wear clean clothes. They were told that small, hygienic habits play a significant role in preventing diseases and maintaining physical health.
The importance of personal hygiene was also explained in simple terms. Information was provided regarding body cleanliness, oral and hair hygiene, and the maintenance of personal items. Recognizing that personal hygiene is particularly important for adolescent girls, they were also educated on maintaining hygiene during menstruation, the proper use of sanitary products, and the safe disposal of used materials.
Through interactive discussions, the message was conveyed that cleanliness begins with the individual. If everyone takes responsibility for keeping their homes, schools, centers, and surrounding environments clean, the entire community can become healthy and hygienic. The girls were encouraged to raise awareness about hygiene and safe water among their families and other members of the community.
This initiative by RSKS India represents a meaningful effort to raise awareness among girls regarding health, hygiene, and safe water. Such programs not only foster healthy habits in children and adolescent girls but also inspire them to become positive ambassadors for hygiene and health within their families and communities.
Adopt safe water practices, promote hygienic habits, and move towards a healthy life—for a healthy girl is the foundation of a healthy family and an empowered society.
