Dear Reader Namaste!
Many Greetings from RSKS India….
The monsoon season brings greenery and cooler temperatures, but it also leads to a rise in the mosquito population due to waterlogging and unsanitary conditions. Families living in streets and slum areas are particularly vulnerable to mosquito-borne diseases. Keeping these circumstances in mind, the Rajasthan Samagrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS) launched an initiative to raise awareness about health and hygiene among needy children and families.
The primary objective of this initiative was to educate people on preventing mosquito-borne diseases—such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya—during the monsoon and to provide necessary protection to vulnerable families. During the program, participants were informed that protecting oneself from mosquitoes requires not only personal precautions but also maintaining a clean surrounding environment.
The awareness program highlighted that stagnant water accumulating in and around homes after rainfall serves as a major breeding ground for mosquitoes. Therefore, it is crucial to prevent water from pooling near the house and to ensure that water does not collect in items such as old tires, cans, flowerpots, broken vessels, and similar objects. Families were also encouraged to keep water tanks and other water containers covered and to clean them regularly.
Children were educated on the importance of health and personal hygiene. They were told that, alongside maintaining cleanliness at home and in the neighborhood, wearing full-sleeved clothing, using mosquito nets while sleeping, and adopting safe preventive measures against mosquitoes are vital for good health.
A key message conveyed to the children was that if anyone exhibits symptoms such as high fever, chills, extreme weakness, body aches, or other unusual signs, these should not be ignored; instead, timely advice should be sought from a health worker or doctor. Seeking timely medical assistance plays a crucial role in preventing serious illness.
A significant aspect of this initiative was that, rather than merely receiving information, children were encouraged to become ambassadors of health and hygiene awareness within their own families and communities. Children can encourage those around them to prevent water stagnation, maintain cleanliness, and adopt measures to protect themselves from mosquitoes.
This initiative by the Rajasthan Samagrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS) is a meaningful step towards spreading the message of health awareness and safety to underserved communities. Such initiatives strengthen the sense of responsibility and awareness regarding health within the community and make people more conscious of their health and environment.
During the monsoon season, a little caution and cleanliness can play a vital role in preventing various diseases. A clean home, clean surroundings, and an aware family are the hallmarks of a healthy community. Let us all come together to raise awareness about preventing mosquito-borne diseases and contribute to keeping our families and society safe.
