Dear Reader Namaste!
Many Greetings from RSKS India….
In our society, millions of women are victims of domestic violence, mental harassment and social discrimination, but many of these women remain silent, are afraid, and are unable to raise their voice due to the pressure of society. With the aim of breaking this silence and giving a strong voice to women, RSKS India organized a special program under the campaign “Stop Violence – Chuppi Todo, Khudro Bolo”, which was dedicated to women living in slums and street settlements.
This program was started with the thought that no woman should be forced to live with violence. The main objectives of the program were:
To give information to women about the types of violence
To make them aware of their legal rights and safety measures
To emotionally empower them so that they do not remain silent, but can speak openly
And also to give the message to the society that tolerating violence is as wrong as committing it
The team of RSKS India went to slum settlements and organized the program. The main activities were as follows:
Open group discussion — where women shared their experiences
Theatre and role-play — depicting various situations of violence and ways to resolve them.
Legal awareness session — where women were told what steps they can take to protect themselves from domestic violence, mental harassment or any kind of violence.
“My Voice” wall writing — where women wrote down their feelings and shared them publicly.
Many women openly shared their pain for the first time and told how they had been suffering violence for years but were unable to raise their voice. One woman said,
“Today I told someone for the first time that something wrong has happened to me. Now I am not afraid.”
This sentence itself reflects the success of the program.
Impact and beginning of change
Many women understood the process of seeking help and gained confidence.
A discussion was created in the community, and men also participated in the awareness program.
Participation of women in local self-help groups increased.
RSKS also made available helpline numbers, legal aid and counseling services after the program.
“Stop Violence – Chupi Todo, Khulpur Bolo” is not just a program but a movement that brings women out of their silence and gives them a strong voice. This effort of RSKS India shows that change in society begins only when women stop being afraid and start speaking.
We have to take a pledge together that we will neither commit nor tolerate violence – and will ensure a respectable and safe life for every woman.
We highly value your feedback, suggestions, and comments on our programs. Please feel free to reach out to us at admin@rsksindia.ngo
