My name is Kamla, and I live in a rural village in Rajasthan with my husband and two children. Life for us has always been a struggle. My husband works long hours as a farmer, but the earnings are uncertain. Some months, we barely had enough to eat, and buying nutritious food like fruits was out of the question. When the Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India) team visited our village, they told us about their “Plant Grafted Fruit Trees for Marginalized Families Program.” They explained how this program could improve our livelihoods and provide us with better nutrition. I was hesitant at first, unsure how planting a few trees could make such a big difference. But when they selected us for the program, I decided to give it a try.

The RSKS team provided us with grafted fruit trees—lemon, mango, pomegranate, guava, chikoo, jamun, and myrobalan. They also gave us organic manure and taught us how to plant and care for the trees. Their training was very thorough, covering everything from soil preparation to pest control. Planting those trees became a family activity. My children helped me dig the holes and water the saplings. Watching the trees grow became a source of joy for us. The RSKS team checked on us regularly, ensuring the trees were growing well and offering advice whenever needed.

Now, a year later, our trees have started bearing fruit. The guava and chikoo trees are especially productive, and my children enjoy eating fresh fruits from our garden. I’ve also started selling some of the produce in the local market. The extra income has been a blessing, allowing us to buy better food and pay for my children’s school fees. This program has brought stability and hope to our lives. My children are healthier, and we no longer worry as much about the future. The RSKS team’s support has been incredible—they didn’t just provide us with trees; they gave us the knowledge and confidence to create a better life for our family. I feel grateful every day for this opportunity. Thanks to RSKS India, we have more than just trees in our backyard—we have a brighter future.
