Hope in a Schoolbag…..

Dear Friends Namaste !

My name is Urmila, and I am 15 years old. I live in a small village with my parents and two younger brothers. My father is a farmer, and my mother takes care of the house and works in the fields when extra hands are needed. Life here is tough, and money is always short. I love studying, but going to school regularly was a struggle. I didn’t have proper school supplies like notebooks, pens, or even a decent school bag. I used to borrow from my friends, but it made me feel embarrassed. Slowly, I stopped going to school as often. I thought my dream of learning and growing would never come true.

One day, a team from Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan came to our village. They were conducting a door-to-door survey to identify girls who were facing difficulties with their education. When they came to my house, they spoke to my parents and me about my irregular attendance and the challenges we faced. A few weeks later, I was selected for their Education For Every Rural Girl project. They gave me a beautiful school bag filled with everything I needed for an entire year: registers, pens, pencils, a geometry box, drawing books, sketchbooks, and even colours. I was so excited! It was the first time I had everything I needed to focus on my studies.

Now, I attend school every day. My teachers have noticed the change in me, and my classmates often compliment my new school bag. I feel confident and motivated to work hard. I’ve even started enjoying drawing during my free time. Later, the RSKS team visited our home to get feedback. My parents thanked them for their help, and I told them how much their support had changed my life. I’m so grateful to RSKS for giving me this opportunity. They didn’t just give me school supplies—they gave me a chance to dream and a reason to believe in myself again.
