My name is Rani, and I am 38 years old. I live in a slum with my family, where life can often be difficult. Our livelihood depends on the daily work we do to earn enough to feed our families. We don’t have much savings, so we rely on our daily earnings to make ends meet. When the Biporjoy Cyclone hit, everything changed. We were advised to stay indoors to stay safe, but that also meant we couldn’t go out to work. As the days went on, it became harder for us to find enough food for our families. It was a frightening and uncertain time, as we struggled to provide even the basic necessities for our loved ones.
Just when we were starting to worry about how we would survive, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India) stepped in with their Biporjoy Cyclone Relief Campaign. They brought food materials like flour, lentils, pulses, salt, sugar, oil, and other essentials to our slum. It was a huge relief for all of us.
When the RSKS team arrived, it felt like a lifeline. They set up a distribution center, and each family in our slum received a package of food supplies. I cannot express how grateful we were to receive these materials. It meant that we could feed our families and keep going during the cyclone’s aftermath. The relief campaign provided us with more than just food. It gave us a sense of security and hope during a challenging time. Knowing that we had enough to eat took away some of the stress and fear we had been feeling. It also brought our community together, as we supported one another and shared stories of our experiences during the cyclone.
My family and I were able to prepare meals with the supplies we received, and it made a world of difference. We were no longer worried about where our next meal would come from. Instead, we could focus on staying safe and waiting for the cyclone to pass. The RSKS India team showed great compassion and care for our community. Their timely intervention helped us get through the worst of the cyclone and its aftermath. Their kindness will never be forgotten, and we are truly thankful for their support. On behalf of all the slum and street families, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to RSKS India. Their efforts made a profound impact on our lives, and we are forever grateful for their generosity and dedication.
